Free Books for Conference Goers

One hundred couples or individual attenders of the Faith of Our Fathers conference on “The Law of God is Good and Wise” will receive a free set of books in the Atonement in Lutheran Orthodoxy series.

The conference addresses issues about the place of God’s Law in the church and the Christian life. Over two days, April 12th and 13th, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL we will learn about and discuss the Law of God. This conference is for both laity and pastors. Speakers and preachers include: Pr. Benjamin Ball; Rev. John Hill; Rev. Dr. Scott Murray; Rev. Dr. David Petersen; Rev. David Ramirez; Rev. Dr. Peter Scaer; Rev. Joshua Scheer; Rev. Mark Surburg; Pr. Michael Walther; Pr. William Weedon; and, Rev. Todd Wilken.

Issues and controversies about the Law ravage the fields of sanctification and the third use of the Law. But they also trouble the atonement in profound ways. Many Lutherans have been attracted to teachers who rail against the “legal framework” or the “legal scheme” of the atonement in Lutheran Orthodoxy. Those teachers reject the teachings of Scripture, the Lutheran confessions in the Book of Concord, the Catechism, Lutheran liturgy, Lutheran hymnody, and the teachings of the fathers of the Lutheran Church such as Luther, Melancton, Chemnitz, Gehard, Quenstedt, Calov, Baier, Dannhauer, and many more. They deny that Christ fulfilled the Law for us and made vicarious satisfaction to God for our sin. By abolishing the Law in the atonement, they have also abolished the Gospel in the atonement.

Synoptic Text™ is producing a series of books on Atonement in Lutheran Orthodoxy. So far the series includes:

One hundred sets of Quenstedt, Baier-Walther, and Calov will be given away on a first-come-first-served basis, by couple or individual, arriving at the conference.
