Last minute, end of year fundraising opportunities

money-46814-mIf you happen to be blessed at the end of this year with some extra cash that you would like to donate to some good causes, I would suggest taking a look at these:

University Lutheran Chapel – Build it Back Campaign

Until the end of the year ULC’s donations (up to a grand total of $10K) will be matched.  At last counting they have only received $5,000 of the $10,000 maximum for matching.  Please consider giving to them (each dollar is doubled by the match!).  Click here to donate.

Lutheran Public Radio

According to their site, LPR is short $3,000 this year for it to make budget.  LPR is one of the best ways to listen to sacred music throughout the year over their site and apps.  Click here to donate.

  1. I know PTM scoffs at using a postage stamp (although now that Amazon is making deliveries through the P.O., he may change his tune) but for antediluvians (any deluge you choose) please post a current snail mail address?

Someone may be moved to use it! But do it fast!

The matching funds claim to be ending soon.

  2. Blessed Christmas to one and all, as I sit here recovering after Christmas (all pastors do in varying degrees) at my office, as a worker/priest…it is what it is.

I am blessed, the coffers are good, the people came; albeit I am shepherding a small Church. I had some visitors and I pray my proclamation of the Gospel was good and right, I did have many come up and comment on the sermon and all the services. That makes a pastor feel good.

Your note on helping out. well, that is what I plan on doing for 2014, in a way that you all have advocated somewhat. As a worker/priest, I have been overly blessed in many ways. And I have tried to share this, with fellow pastors in many ways, some worked, some had varying degrees of success. Hey, we are human and do sin (and we remind ourselves and our flock all the time).

As a DELTO trained man into the service of our Lord (pre-SMP), I appreciate classically trained men toiling in the field (we all toil when given a call by God).

I am blessed spiritually and worldly, and I am going to try and share it yet again.

For you pastors that have some extra time:

    01) Make sure you informally stay in contact, a few minutes less Internet Blogging, a call to a buddy or a cup of coffee (or beer and a cigar).

    02) Be straight with each other, if one brother is in need, offer help as best you can; share your wealth whether time of money.

    03) Please share your resources. Yes, a sad fact and I will say it, we are in competition with one another as brick and mortar business, yet try and make this a team effort. We are a team for the Gospel outreach.

    04) Love one another, as God has so loved all of us. It ain’t easy as we try and wrestle with doctrine and practice. Try, sort of like dealing with your kids, count 1-2-3 before responding. Do not respond in haste or anger, pause and think.

As for me, I bid you all good-day and blessing. I think blogging will be at a very minimum, I shy away from a promise to stay out altogether.

I will put my efforts and my monies to helping others in need even more in 2014, and that means fellow pastors. Not as gifts all the time, but as strategic partnering. I have some skills to share, and can certainly use others skills to aid me as I shepherd my flock.

It has certainly been “interesting” and “eye-opening” reading BJS over the last few years.

    Blessings to all.

The response to our December appeal letter and to the $10,000 matching challenge has been wonderful. The Build-It-Back campaign received over $50,000 in gifts this December! Thanks to everyone who donated, especially to the anonymous donors of the matching gift.

Every donation gets us one step closer to building a new chapel at the U of M. You can give by pressing the link to the right of this blog, or by mailing a check to University Lutheran Chapel at 316 10th Ave. SE Minneapolis, MN 55414.
