Convention Moves to have Congregations Elect the Synodical President – Very Interesting Given the 1,300 Congregation Nominations for Matt Harrison, by Pr. Rossow

The synod convention approved Resolution 8-17 which has district convention delegates from congregations elect the president of synod instead of the current process of having the convention elect him.

This year’s election will still be done by the convention and is being held tomorrow. If the delegates are serious about the role of the congregation in electing the synod president, as they just voted, then they should give some serious consideration to Rev. Matthew Harrison who received 1,332 nominations from congregations while President Kieschnick only received 755 congregations.

The value of consistency suggests that delegates elect Rev. Harrison as a testimony to the convention’s support for this congregational principle.

  1. Pray and pray hard for Pastor Harrison. If he does win election, there will be many days and weeks of hard work ahead to mend some fences and possibly do some much needed weeding. Pray for our synod and if God chooses to let it fall, pray a new church arises out of the wastepile that will allow all confessionals to worship in peace.

  2. A good comment#1. There are soooo many that are praying for MH. Also the church. Yes as God wills this it shall be so!

  3. bottom line.
Re-elect JK and the dis-unity and dis-trust will continue, this Synod WILL NOT move ahead. It will be 3 more years of the status quo. That’s nothing against the SP; it is just how it is. He cannot bring unity and healing to this body.
Elect MH, and maybe he can, maybe he cannot. Point is, that with MH there is a least a possibility of a return to unity, trust and moving on.
If JK really cared for this synod, he would step aside for. Don’t think it will happen.
