The Gospel Notes for Invocabit (the First Sunday in Lent) of the One-Year Lectionary from the Lutheran Service Book is now available. You may download the Color PDF, the Black and White PDF, the Bi-Fold Color PDF, the Bi-Fold Black and White PDF, the Half-Page Legal Color PDF, or the Half-Page Black and White PDF.
The bi-fold version is a “booklet form” that folds and inserts nicely inside a standard bulletin. The standard version can be printed double-sided on a 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet, and possibly folded as well for distribution through bulletins, or put on the narthex table for distribution.

Invocabit — the First Sunday in Lent

Collect of the Day:
O Lord God, You led your people through the wilderness and brought them to the promised land. Guide the people of your Church that following our Savior we may walk through the wilderness of this world toward the glory of the world to come; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Psalm 91:1-2, 9-10, 13 (antiphon: Psalm 91:15a, c, 16) — When he calls (invocabit) to me, I will answer him
Psalm 32 (antiphon: v. 7) — Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered
Old Testament Reading:
Genesis 3:1-21 — The temptation and fall of man
Psalm 91:11-12 — He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways
2 Corinthians 6:1-10 — Receive not the grace of God in vain
Psalm 91:1, 4a, 15a, 16 — He who abides in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
