BJS Chapters Serve Others – Bethany Naperville Chapter Puts on Lenten Soup Supper

One of the goals of BJS chapters is to do service work in the congregation. It certainly gives BJS some positive publicity but the two more important goals of this service are to share the love of Christ and   to organize men to participate in the life of the congregation.

The chapter at Bethany – Naperville, Illinois did just that tonight by hosting the last of the season’s Lenten soup suppers. We had fourteen men and women show up to help. The group got a little carried away with testosterone and started talking about heading fifteen miles south to challenge the chapter from St. Paul – Lockport to a rumble but chose the higher thing and decided to end the evening by joining the congregation for  a moving singing of evening prayer led by Cantor Magness.

  1. Good job! Lent is a great time for our reflection, but also a great time for fellowship! We had a great one last night as well. Pot luck supper with a nice little dinner play put on by our ladys, and a moving church service afterwards.

    God Bless!

  2. All of you at Bethany knocked our socks off with your kind works of service at the First Annual BJS National Conference. You are welcome at St. Paul’s – Lockport any time. I don’t know about a rumble, but we do have a baseball dart cabinet we would be glad to open if you dare to take us on at our own home court 🙂

    God bless you brothers,

  3. yo Ross if it’s a rumble they want don’t forget we have a ringer in vic. Schleider, a marine, former sherrif an a TEXAN, who i belive is a pretty good shot and very fast on his feet,an cooks one mean steak . Ron in Lockport

  4. Maybe we should change that to a sumo wrestling match. We were thinking about having our pastoral advisor (and maybe a couple of other guys from the picture) simply sit on you boys from Lockport 🙂
