The Key Question Still Remains Unanswered: Rev. Wilken’s Response to President Kieschnick’s Memo is Now Posted on the Issues, Etc. Website

February 26th, 2009 Post by

There are some new posts on the Issues, Etc. website  that will interest you. There is  an audio Web Extra of Pastor Wilken’s response to President Kieschnick’s memo today. There are also a couple of other goodies there as listed below. Once you are at the website click on the “on demand” button.

You will want to listen to this audio. Pastor Wilken makes it clear that President Kieschnick has still not answered the most important question: did he oppose the Board of Director’s decision to pursue legal action against Issues, Etc? Pastor Wilken also restates his point from February 8th that they have reliable evidence that President Kieschnick was pushing that legal action.

I received an email response from Dr. Kieschnick to an email I sent with the December 16th letter attached in pdf and the following questions asked, “Have you seen the attached letter? At the Board of Director’s November meeting did you encourage the continuation of legal action in the Issues, Etc. trademark situation? These are simple questions and I’m requesting only a “yes” or “no” answer unless you would like to elaborate further.”

He provided a simple “No” answer to both questions. I guess that means that he could say, “the ‘decision transpired with my awareness but neither by my order nor at my direction’” again.

    Paul,

Dr. Kieschnick will only answer the question you ask. So you have to ask the right question.

With all due respect, your question gives Dr. Kieschnick at least four ways to parse his way to a “no” answer.

    1) “At the Board of Directors’ November meeting…” It is possible that Dr. Kieschnick said nothing about it “at the meeting,” rather, lobbied before the meeting.

    2) “did you encourage…” Dr. Kieschnick could have supported or assented to the action without actively encouraging it.

    3) “…the continuation of legal action…” In November, no legal action may have been taken yet, so there may have been no legal action at the time to be continued.

    4) “…legal action in the Issues, Etc. trademark situation” Dr. Kieschnick might not regard filing opposition to a trademark application at the Trademark office “legal action.”

The question should be: “In November 2008, did Dr. Kieschick support the LCMS BOD decision to oppose Harry Madsen’s trademark application for the ‘Issues, Etc.’ name?”

I had urged my DP last week, that “in dealing with Dr. Kieschnick and the Board of Directors to request that they drop this matter at once without further legal expense or harassment.” I was told to that I did not have my facts right and that I should ” be careful about what you send out as fact.” The email was directed to only him.

When I asked for clarification as to what I said that was incorrect, I was told that a statement for be forthcoming. Today I received from him a copy of the president’s letter.

I feel so much better to have had the facts finally revealed! But alas! If he didn;t already know — I am now a marked man.

The typical Synod Incorporated mentality: Only we, synodical officials, are qualified to dispense facts. We will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it.

You are a marked man Pastor Kusko. You’re marked with a cross on your forehead and on your breast. “So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” Heb 13:6

Publicola #2 – thanks for the advice and thankfully the questions need not be asked anymore for this issue. I’m not a lawyer nor do I have legal council.

Pastor Kusko – from my experience with it, the district in which you have been placed is extremely LCMS, Inc. God bless you in your work tending the flock which He has placed in your care and may He also strengthen you as you continue steadfast in His Word.
