  1. Thanks for the reminder! It is so important that congregations nominate good people for all of the various positions.

  2. BTW, the nominations for President and First Vice-President are handled differently and have a different deadline. According to explanation:

Each member congregation of our Synod may nominate one or two rostered ordained ministers for the office of the President (Bylaw 3.12.2). Nomination ballots for President will be mailed in October 2015 to all voting congregations and must be turned in to the Secretary of the Synod’s office no later than Feb. 9, 2016. Nomination forms for the President will not be available online.

This follows the procedure given in LCMS Bylaw 3.12.2.

  3. “* LCMS Board of Directors at-large positions (2 ordained; 1 layperson)”
Layperson: they must have an advance degree and they must prove that they have one.

  4. So does that mean that a D. D. degree (Dummy Doctorate) does not count as an advanced degree?

  5. A reminder that THIS FRIDAY, October 9, is the deadline for submitting nominations for various positions to be elected at next summer’s LCMS convention! So I would suggest, if you’re planning to nominate, that you do so ASAP, even today. The nominating committee **might** accept nominations **postmarked** no later than October 9, but just to be safe, I would suggest that nominations be **received** by October 9, i.e., this Friday. If you think snail mail would be too slow, you can fill out the nomination form and **scan and email** it in to [email protected].
