Bio – Pastor Joshua Scheer

Pastor Joshua Sheer got our attention a few months ago with his study of the new ELCA offshoot, the LCMC (Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ). Josh is pastor of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bagley, Minnesota. Since Klemet Preus has to step down as a BJS blogger we thought it would be fitting to replace one Minnesotan with another.

Josh has a background in history but will be blogging about various topics of interest. His first post is on the lack of calls in the LCMS these days.

Josh was born in Wood Lake, Minnesota and confirmed there at St. Luke Lutheran Church (LCMS). He has a B.A. in History from Mankato State University (Summa Cum Laude, 2002). He has also begun work on an M.A. in history His Master of Divinity is from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne (2008). He is also a Doxology graduate.

He is married and has three children (2 girls and a boy). His hobbies interests include family, hunting, woodworking, theology, church history and military history.

We look forward to Rev. Sheer’s contributions to the BJS blogsite as he helps us continue to achieve our fourfold goals of teaching the Lutheran Confessions, promoting new Lutheran Media, upholding Christian vocation, and practicing the historic liturgy.
