2018 Steadfast Lutherans Lenten Series – The Lord’s Prayer in the Lord’s Passion

The time has come to release our theme and service plan for the 2018 Steadfast Lutherans Lenten Series titled “The Lord’s Prayer in the Lord’s Passion”.  The initial thought for this series comes from a volume called “Sermon Texts” by Northwestern Publishing House.  We have modified the series slightly.  The idea is to teach the Lord’s Prayer from Ash Wednesday up to the Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord using midweek services, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Services.  This includes a catechetical focus as well as teaching Luther’s catechetical hymn on the Lord’s Prayer.

At present a devotional for the Lenten season of the same theme is being worked on by faithful pastors.  It will be released in early February (Ash Wednesday is February 14th this year).  Stay tuned to our site for its release.

The service plan makes some assumptions:  Divine Service with Holy Communion for all but the midweek services.  Midweek services we assume would be a prayer office (Vespers being preferred).  The hymn numbers and so forth are from Lutheran Service Book.

Here is the service plan:
