Time for some Advent Watching and Praying on Newtown Memorial Service, by Pr. Rossow

It is time for some Advent watching and praying concerning the Newtown memorial service issue. Charlie Henrickson, one of our bloggers who knows a thing or two about syncretism and unionism (he was the chief researcher and gadfly with the Yankee Stadium debacle) wrote an excellent post yesterday about the situation in Newtown, Connecticut that received thousands of views within a few hours.

We have taken that post out of public view temporarily and will not be fielding comments on this post so that we can let this matter unfold naturally without a lot of public hoopla.

We are pleased that BJS was able to get the discussion going but now we will be practicing some Advent watching, waiting and praying concerning this matter. Our prayer is that the comfort of law and gospel be brought to those who are hurting, that wrong-doing be confessed, that our Lord would come quickly and bring us safely to heaven, and that in the meantime we would uphold his pure Gospel for all to hear.

Many believe that BJS is a good thing for the Church. I your editor and everyone else here at BJS believe that. But we always need to remember that we are a good thing for the Church. We do not exist in a vacuum. We serve the Church and that means that we will not always function as some news agency that acts independtly and wrecklessly. It is more of an art than a science to know when to speak and when not to. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
