LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison offers a message of thanks and encouragement for families who labor in the agricultural industry and have been adversely affected by this summer’s record drought. President Harrison’s message also extends to rural and small-town congregations as he thanks them for their support of these beleaguered members.

About Norm Fisher

Norm was raised in the UCC in Connecticut, and like many fell away from the church after high school. With this background he saw it primarily as a service organization. On the miracle of his first child he came back to the church. On moving to Texas a few years later he found a home in Lutheranism when he was invited to a confessional church a half-hour away by our new neighbors.

He is one of those people who found a like mind in computers while in Middle School and has been programming ever since. He's responsible for many websites, including the Book of Concord, LCMSsermons.com, and several other sites.

He has served the church in various positions, including financial secretary, sunday school teacher, elder, PTF board member, and choir member.

More of his work can be found at KNFA.net.

  1. Don’t forget those of us in the lawnmower business.

Like the farmers we are dependent on the rain, but unlike the farmers we can’t buy crop insurance. Our July 2012 sales were down 90% compared to July 2011.

  2. how about a message of thanks to HIM as well for those who work the harvest fields and remain faithful with their families-even giving up ALL instead of compromising on Biblical and Confessional truth when some of our churches and leaders are unfaithful in doctrine and practice by doing, saying and hearing nothing-but pick up their paychecks, that they do and tell people that they have no answers to church problems re: The LORD’s revealed truth.

We say thanks dear Lord for those in any and every field of labor-especially the undershepherds and their loving and faithful families.Compromise and expediency is to be expected in DC and not HIS house Ezekiel 33-Correct??? When pastors call for help from the trenches, send out the ecclesiatical AIR FORCE. The silence is deafening-as we again find that we need to trust in God and not rely on some so-called Godly men who take divine oaths and wear white collars.Again, faithful servants and famlies of the heavenly harvest-we thank the dear Savior for YOU and all farmers in our blessed land
