God loved the World So that He Gave
His only Son the lost to save
That all who would in Him believe
Should everlasting life receive.
God is all about life. God did not create life for death. Death is a result of sin. When God created the man and woman He instituted marriage. Marriage promotes life. God blesses marriage with children. The family is given the opportunity to love one another which not only pleases God, but glorifies God.
When our first child was born, I didn’t think I could possibly love another as much. God gave us another and again loved swelled beyond my understanding. Then another and twins! and then another . . . . . . and after each, love continued to abound for each of our children. Christian parents know that not only did God create their children, but He loves their children more than the parents love their own children. The love for our children is truly a gift from God. How can a miserable poor sinner love so much! The love God gives us for our children gives us an inkling of how God loves the world so that He gave His only Son for His lost children to save from eternal death.
How many times do parents feel helpless in helping their children! As poor miserable sinners, parents lack wisdom, knowledge, and ability to raise and help their children. Humble Christian parents know this about themselves. Christian parents can take great comfort knowing that God loves them and their children. A perfect love! Christian parents look to God’s Word for guidance, for wisdom, knowledge, and the ability by God’s grace to love their children.
Parents look around their world and see daily how God visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Him. Christian parents cling to the mercy God gives to them by keeping mindful that they must humbly teach their children God’s love to their children. That is to teach their children to fear, love, and trust God above all things and love their neighbor as themselves. God has instituted marriage to make a safe home for the children to learn of His love and mercy. Especially to teach that where and when God forgives there is life and salvation.
Be of good cheer, for God’s own Son
Forgives all sins which thou hast done;
And, justified by Jesus’ blood,
Thy Baptism grants the highest good.
