Regarding Amending Slate of Circuit Counselors

WHEREAS The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod at its 2010 Convention amended Bylaw 5.2.2 regarding the election of circuit counselors, and

WHEREAS some are concerned that the language of Bylaw 5.2.2.f, “The convention shall have the right to alter the slate by amendment,” could be used to usurp the privilege granted to circuit fora to select their circuit counselor,

therefore be it

RESOLVED that we, _____________________, memorialize The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in Convention to amend Bylaw 5.2.2.f as follows:
5.2.2 (f) Should a candidate no longer be available for this office, a caucus of the voting delegates from that circuit shall have the right to act on behalf of the congregations to nominate a replacement. The convention shall have the right to alter the slate by amendment in order to insert the newly selected nominee.

About Norm Fisher

Norm was raised in the UCC in Connecticut, and like many fell away from the church after high school. With this background he saw it primarily as a service organization. On the miracle of his first child he came back to the church. On moving to Texas a few years later he found a home in Lutheranism when he was invited to a confessional church a half-hour away by our new neighbors.
