Pastor David Kind from University Lutheran Chapel to Preach at the Brothers Conference in February, by Pr. Rossow

It’s been a rough twelve months for Pastor David Kind. Hopefully the camaraderie of the Brothers of John the Steadfast at our annual conference in February will help shore him up a bit. We hope you will join us here in Naperville, Illinois on Friday, February 10 and Saturday the 11th for the conference. We will certainly be shored up by the Gospel that Pastor Kind will bring to our Divine Service on Saturday morning.

Rev. Kind is the pastor of University Lutheran Chapel whose striking sanctuary and functional library, gathering hall and Sunday School rooms have been put on the selling block by District President Lane Seitz and the Board of Directors of the Minnesota South District of the LCMS. The entire process was completed entirely via secret executive sessions, closed to members of the Minnesota South District and the pastor and members of University Lutheran Chapel. For this reason alone we recommend the delegates to the Minnesota South District convention later this year, vote in a new slate of board members who are willing to conduct such important church business in public rather than hiding behind the veil of executive session. Executive session is a useful too for the church, but only when it is used to protect the sins of the penitent and other private matters of personnel. It is unseemly to use it as a way of hiding behind disgraceful decisions that ought to be pubic.

We pray that God will bless the Chapel during the next few difficult years. We also pray that the District Board would have a change of heart and seek to undo the deal they have struck to destroy a thriving pulpit and altar.

In the meantime, we look forward to gathering around the Lord’s Supper and the Gospel preached by Pastor Kind at the BJS conference. Registration details for the conference will be available later this week.
