About Norm Fisher

Norm was raised in the UCC in Connecticut, and like many fell away from the church after high school. With this background he saw it primarily as a service organization. On the miracle of his first child he came back to the church. On moving to Texas a few years later he found a home in Lutheranism when he was invited to a confessional church a half-hour away by our new neighbors.

He is one of those people who found a like mind in computers while in Middle School and has been programming ever since. He's responsible for many websites, including the Book of Concord,, and several other sites.

He has served the church in various positions, including financial secretary, sunday school teacher, elder, PTF board member, and choir member.

  1. I’m assuming that this is Central Standard Time. Anyone know if that’s correct?

  2. @Rev. Mike Mathey #1
    Pr. Mathey:

Fort Wayne, Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone, and Indiana has adopted Daylight Saving Time in that portion of the state. So the event would be at 11:00am EDT.

  3. Isn’t that the day that Jesus is supposed to come again?

Seriously, it looks as if they have proceeded efficiently.

  4. @Revfisk #5

Technically the end of the world actually scheduled for October 21; the Rapture is what is happening on Saturday. Although on that note, I wonder if Jesus listens to that particular radio show?

  5. Ok so the rapture is on Saturday but the end of the world is October 31.
What time will this occour and will it be central daylight time or central standard time or eastern?
If its eastern and if I am out of town and want to set my vcr to record the event do I set it an hour ahead or an hour later.
Oh who cares I’ll be going with the first group anyway.

  6. Re: John Hooss, #8:
Does Scripture clearly say which group will go first? If, so, lead me to the verses, please.

  7. @Redeemed #9

I just said I was going with the first group didn’t say the best group.

To quote Foghorn Leghorne “That’s a Joke Son!”

  8. Wait!!! The Mayans are wrong?! The world ends this year? Not next? Oh, crap…. that screws up my plans…

  9. So has the news leaked out anywhere as to who the new president will be???

  10. ** BREAKING NEWS **

Rev. Dr. Lawrence Rast, Jr., has been named as the 17th president of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.

I remember him from my days at CTSFW — he was a grad student while I was a Sem I — taught a few classes along the way — great guy! We pray he serves our church and our seminary well.

  11. Rev. Boettcher,

President Harrison and President-Elect Rast were both STM students at Fort Wayne when we were first year students, I believe. Did you know we were swimming with the big fish back then?

  12. Steven,

You’re right; I actually had both of them as teachers (subbing for profs when they had other commitments); I liked both of them as teachers; thought both of them would make great sem profs; didn’t really think that much of either one of them (let alone both) being honored to become presidents of institutions. Kudos to both of them! We were certainly blessed to have them at CTSFW.

President Harrison was at our most recent Pastor’s Conference in SWD; at the end, we talked for a few minutes, just like we were back at Fort Wayne; had some nice encouraging words for me and my current situation. Great man! Great men!
