Today, the Anniversary of John the Steadfast’s Death, Reminds Us of the Work of the Brothers of John the Steadfast, by Pr. Rossow

One of our LCMS historians sent me an e-mail this afternoon to remind that today is the anniversary of the death of John the Steadfast. He died on August 16, 1532.

Like John, who risked his head for the sake of Confessional Lutheranism, we at the Brothers of John the Steadfast are committed to promoting the Scriptural theology of the Lutheran Confessions. (You can read about our goals by clicking here on the Organization Page of the website.)

This website has drawn as much if not more attention than our efforts to start chapters and Confessions reading groups around the globe. (We have had more than a million page downloads in our first two years of existence.) The LCMS convention and the prospect of electing Matt Harrison was a great way for us to raise interest in the cause to which John the Steadfast committed his life. It gave us a chance to highlight what is and what is not confessional in our synod.

Now that the election is complete we are focusing more of our time on the other work of the organization and are looking forward to reporting the fruits of those efforts this fall.
