The synod convention approved Resolution 8-17 which has district convention delegates from congregations elect the president of synod instead of the current process of having the convention elect him.
This year’s election will still be done by the convention and is being held tomorrow. If the delegates are serious about the role of the congregation in electing the synod president, as they just voted, then they should give some serious consideration to Rev. Matthew Harrison who received 1,332 nominations from congregations while President Kieschnick only received 755 congregations.
The value of consistency suggests that delegates elect Rev. Harrison as a testimony to the convention’sĀ support for this congregational principle.
