Press Release from The United List

The United List has released its recommendation for Treasurer for the 2010 convention.

RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2010

The United List announces its recommendation for Vice-President Finance – Treasurer, Mr. Charles E. Rhodes, the current Synodical Executive Director of Accounting and Finance. Mr. Rhodes will be added as a floor nomination.

Having served as the LCMS Executive Director of Accounting and Finance for the past ten years, Charlie Rhodes has worked closely with retiring Treasurer, Thomas Kuchta. A thirty year member of the American Institute of CPA’s, he has served as a planner for, and presenter at, District Business Manager’s and Congregational Treasurer’s Conferences. For the past twenty years he has also been the Manager/Director for the Synod’s Internal Audit. His background, breadth of experience, and familiarity with the Synod’s financial issues, makes him uniquely qualified to provide a smooth transition at this crucial position.

In addition to the above recommendation, a few other positions have changed since the first release of the United List. For that reason, please be sure to review the updated listing. In addition to a new four page biographical synopsis on all United List endorsed candidates, an updated convenient one page form is available for download at the United List website: These materials are also being mailed directly to all convention delegates.

Press Release from The United List — 4 Comments

  1. WOW!! What amazing news. “Uniquely qualified” is correct. No one has the experience with Synod finances that compares to Charlie Rhodes. He also is level headed and works well with everyone. Excellent recommendation.

  2. This man looks to be *eminently* qualified! A perfect fit! Besides, with a name like Charlie, he’s got to be good!

    Charlie Henrickson
    Chairman, League of Charlies

  3. Did anyone notice that Res 8-10 removes the treasurer from the Board of Directors? Currently the treasurer is a non-voting member of the BOD. But the changes to Article XI, page 165, line 24 removes the treasurer as a member of the BOD.

How can the BOD make responsible financial decisions if the treasurer of the Synod is not at the table?

The treasurer also goes from a position elected by convention to appointed by the BOD in consultation with the Pres. Thus the treasurer would no longer be an independent voice.

  4. @Conv. Delegate #3
How can the BOD make responsible financial decisions if the treasurer of the Synod is not at the table?

The BOD is window dressing [required by Missouri law, perhaps?]

Another “YESSIR! How high, sir?”, same as the BOD?

I’m glad you are thinking, “Conv. Delegate”. May the Lord send us enough of you!
