Great Stuff Found on the Web — Pr Matt Harrison

I have nothing to add to this post by Pastor Matt Harrison this morning.

“Blessed are you!”

5:1 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [1] of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

About Norm Fisher

Norm was raised in the UCC in Connecticut, and like many fell away from the church after high school. With this background he saw it primarily as a service organization. On the miracle of his first child he came back to the church. On moving to Texas a few years later he found a home in Lutheranism when he was invited to a confessional church a half-hour away by our new neighbors.

He is one of those people who found a like mind in computers while in Middle School and has been programming ever since. He's responsible for many websites, including the Book of Concord, LCMSsermons.com, and several other sites.

He has served the church in various positions, including financial secretary, sunday school teacher, elder, PTF board member, and choir member.

More of his work can be found at KNFA.net.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this. Considering the JF discourses and what I just read details of W. Young’s (author of The Shack) speech & book signing at Concordia Portland (Lighthouse Trails),
this was a blest reminder and re focus for me & mine. I pray it is the Lord’s Will, Pastor Harrison is elected, is who I pray he is, and acts post haste, the way I pray he does.

“I am sending you out, as sheep among wolves. Be as wise as serpents, but as gentle as doves.” Matthew 10:16

  2. Things brings to mind the Gospel lesson from last week, Luke 9:51-56,

As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they went to another village.

A fitting verse for the delegates who now should resolutely set out for Houston, not letting others distract us from the job that is at hand.

  3. I would that I was like to Rev. Harrison. No self-defense, just the Word of God. It is enough.

  4. I don’t know how many delegates read BJS, but as a delegate to the 2001, 2004, and 2007 Conventions, I wish I had had BJS to encourage me back then. Any delegates who do come here, are getting the straight stuff, and ought to be thankful. Encountering the machinations of PF and other political organization, it often gave me a lonely feeling. Thank you BJS, for giving all of us, especially the delegates, the truth, and helping them to see through the smokescreen that the BRTF has unleashed, and for setting the record straight.

    Keep up the good work!!

And all God’s people said AMEN!

  6. Agreed, Thank You BJS, Using the word to make your point…and having a point…priceless

  7. It’s one thing to say all the right things about the Scripture and Confessions, its another entirely to walk the talk when the bullets are flying. Thank-you Pr. Harrison and BJS for doing that by God’s grace, of course.
