It kind of looks like they looked at the list of regular guests for Issues, Etc. to compile the list.

That would be an excellent place to start!
Works for me. If that’s where they got it, great. If they arrived at this list independently, so much the better. I say, hop on the bandwagon.

This list of recommendations is fine if Prop 18 fails, if it passes though what kind of elections are we going to have? No one has been nominated for the new structure, but elections will supposedly take place for the new structure.
I asked someone on the nominating committee about this several months ago and he said they will pull slates of nominees together from those already nominated from other boards and commissionss. That struck me as odd as people were nominated for specific boards and commissions, not just put into a general pool.
Has anyone heard anything further regarding this possibility?
Would someone please explain to me who/what the United List is?
I find no clue on their website as to who runs it, as is also true of JesusFirst.
I find these “secret” organizations reminiscent of the KKK, or the GeStaPo.
Without knowing anything about the “leadership” of such organizations, how can anyone make an informed judgement as to their validity or integrity?
God bless
Walt
Simple: look at whom they are backing. Surely, you know a few of those who are being supported; if those forming the list are consistent, you can trust the rest of the list. JF is very consistent; so is UL.
As to their anonymity: several JF folks are known, as they write articles, and they used to have a list posted of all JF Affirmation subscribers. The UL is unknown so that no one is able to place undue influence on them: the only way to speak against them is to speak against their anonymity. If you want to do that, fine–it’s a valid thing to bring up…but, it’s not going to change.
Suffice it to say, that before the UL a *lot* of groups were making lists; now, many who were are *not* doing so. Thus, the UL, it may be assumed, is made up of representatives of those groups.
EJG (Disclosure: EJG, who used to do some research for the UL, but does not do so anymore)
I notice on the United List website a new about page that explains a lot of what was asked above http://theunitedlist.org/about/
This leads to a longer explanation of the nomination process http://theunitedlist.org/nominations/
