We have another new Confessions Reading Group to add to our Counter. Pastor Rod Zwonitzer informed us that the parish he serves, Emmanuel Lutheran in Dearborn, Michigan not only has a new BJS chapter but that they have also started a Confessions Reading Group. It meets every third Saturday from 7 – 9 AM. You can click here for more information.
The LCMS is counting meaningful Ablaze contacts and they are in the millions or something like that. We are adding Confessions Reading Groups and we are only in the tens but that’s OK. We will add this to our list later today. You can see the whole list by going to the “Confessional Growth” page on this website.
Encouraging Confessions Reading Groups are one of the most important things we do here at BJS. Our mission is to get more and more lay people into the Book of Concord so that they can learn what it means to be a Lutheran.
If you want help in starting a Confessions Reading Group you can click here and it will take you to one of the pages on our Confessional Growth page.
Any in or near the Milwaukee area as of yet?
@Dutch #1
Amen, Dutch.
P.S, Maybe we can start one in Milwaukee?!
Deacon Hughes,
I’m a wee bit south of Milwaukee, but oh, how lovely it would be to have this to attend!
Do…ah…Deacon’s count? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, hint, hint, say no more.
Go for it you guys! A German Lutheran hub like Milvaukeee (sic) needs a Confessions Reading Group.

If you have not read Pastor Zwonitzer’s book, “Testing the Claims of Church Growth,” it is a must read. I believe it is out of print, though, by CPH (surprise, surprise). Okay, maybe that’s a bit cynical, but it is a great read if you can get a hold of a copy. Pastor Zwonitzer may be able to confirm or deny it being out of print on BJS.
Boogie – I started to include that in the post and then went to check CPH for the title and could not find it so you may be right – out of print.

Whom are they trying to impress?
This makes me think of pumping the numbers for an IPO.
Whom are they selling to?
It is out of print and I don’t have copies for sale, but suggest you follow the used book route either on amazon.com or barnes and noble, or other sites that sell these.
thanks for the mention!
A very good thing. This is what BJS should be all about. Confessional Lutherans coming together in a study of our Lutheran confessions. Confessional unity–not ecumenical unity, for the sake of the truth.
I don’t see anything in the Phoenix area yet….
Dutch: here is my email address: [email protected]. Let us talk of setting a group up and the logistics of it all.
