Time to Reserve Your Place at the BJS Conference “No Pietists Allowed Parties”

For the second year in a row we are topping off our Friday night at the BJS conference with an array of “No Pietists Allowed Parties.”  Since some of the parties have limited space we give conference goers a chance to reserve a spot ahead of time. Here is the lineup:

  1. Wine-tasting with Klemet Preus: This party is held in the luxurious kitchen/dining room of BJS Quarterly editor Elaine Gavin and her husband Tom. They are seasoned tourists of the wine country of France, Italy and the Napa Valley. Klemet is a bit of an aficionado as well. Klemet will help host as Tom and Elaine lead party-goers through an evening of red and white delight. (There is a $5 charge for this party.)
  2. Chocolate, Cheese and a Little Sweet Wine with Mollie and Suzanne: Join Mollie Ziegler Hemingway and Suzanne Zobel for fondue and a chocolate fountain along with a little sweet wine. They will be entertaining in the spacious home of  hosts Rich and Gail Sutis. The Sisters of Katie Luther will certainly enjoy this party but it is also open to any and all  men who may have a sweet tooth.
  3. Bull and Bear Smoke Shop: This smoke shop and smoking room in the heart of beautiful Naperville has 9 walk-in humidors! They close just thirty minutes after the parties begin but have made special accommodations for the conference. If we get 5-6 folks signed up who are  willing to patronize the shop that night, they will remain open beyond the normal closing time. For more information on the Bull and Bear check out their website and be sure to let us know if you want to join this group for a few healthy puffs.
  4. Quigly’s Irish Pub: This authentic Irish pub (the bar and booths were imported from Ireland) is the place to down a few pints of Guiness. The pub is in historic downtown Naperville,   just around the corner and up the hill from the Bull and Bear.

We will also provide a list of other area bars and hot spots for those who like a little  variety in their  antinomianism.

Pastor Wilken is not getting in until later in the evening but if possible, we will try to get him to one or more of the parties.

If you are attending the conference and want to sign up for one of these great after hours parties (they start at 8:30 PM on Friday night) go to the bottom of the page, click on contact us and send an e-mail to Pastor Rossow. If you haven’t registered yet for the conference click on the conference poster on the right hand sidebar and follow the instructions. If you have any questions feel free to call Pastor Rossow at 630/355-2198 during office hours.

We look forward to an edifying conference and some pietist-busting parties. See you in Naperville!
