Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does a congregation nominate for President and Vice- â€Presidents of Synod?

A: The Secretary of the Synod mailed ballots for president and vice- â€presidents to each congregation. Your congregation should have its ballot now.

Q: What if my congregation doesn’t have a ballot?

A: E- â€Mail or Call Rev. Raymond Hartwig ([email protected]) or phone 314- â€965- â€9000.

Q: When are the ballots due back?

A: Ballots for president and vice presidents MUST be to the Secretary of Synod by March 10, 2010 (per Bylaw 3.12.1,c)

Q: How many candidates for President and First Vice- â€President can congregations nominate?

A: Each congregation can nominate two ordained ministers for president and two ordained ministers for First Vice- â€President.

Q: Who from the congregation needs to sign the ballot?

A: Each ballot must be signed by the president and the secretary of the congregation and MUST be to the Secretary of Synod by March 10, 2010.

Q: Who would you recommend for President and First Vice- â€President?

A: Since each congregation can nominate two ordained clergy for each position, we recommend nominating Rev. Matthew Harrison for president and Rev. Herbert Mueller for first vice- â€president, and Rev. Herbert Mueller for president and Rev. Matthew Harrison for first vice- â€president.

Q: What if some in my congregation wants to nominate the incumbents?

A: That is fine. Since each congregation can nominate two men for each position, suggest Revs. Harrison and Mueller for the other slots, so that the Synod has a choice.

Q: What about the vice presidents two through five?

A: We recommend the fine Churchmen listed on “United List.” Rev. Dr. John Wohlrabe of Geneseo, Illinois; Rev. Daniel Preus of St. Louis, Missouri; Rev. Dr. David Adams of St. Louis, Missouri; Rev. Dr. Scott Murray of Houston, Texas; and Rev. Dr. Carl Fickenscher of Ft. Wayne, Indiana
