Rev. Matt Harrison to Further Our Grandfather’s Church with a Wyneken Weekend in Baltimore

Rev. Matt Harrision is leading a workshop in Baltimore, MD later this month on one of the fathers of  American confessional Lutheranism,  F. C. D. Wyneken. Friederich Wyneken was a roaming German missionary in America who led Lutherans in Baltimore, Ohio and Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the Missouri Synod once he discovered Walther’s confessional publication “Der Lutheraner.”

It is a tribute to Rev. Harrision that he  knows so much about the confessional history of the LCMS, that he actaully cherishes it and most of all that he goes around the country teaching about it.

For more on F. C. D. Wynekan and a brief  history of the early LCMS we recomend A. L. Graebner’s “Half A Century of Sound Lutheranism in America” which you can read by clicking here.

We learned the  details of Rev. Harrison’s visit from an e-mail from the good folks at CAT-41. It’s been added to our calendar, and here is the text of the e-mail:
