Does BJS Get Ablaze Contact Points for Getting Mentioned in the Media? by Pr. Rossow

Rev. Jacob Ehrhard (Dwight, Illinois) sent me a note this evening with a link to website where we, the Brothers of John the Steadfast, were referenced concerning the KFUO sale. Here is what they said. You be the judge if it was good press or bad.

Furthermore, statements from the Synod last week specifically said that the proceeds from the sale had not yet been allocated. Many informed MoSyns – including the conservative hardliners at The Brothers of John the Steadfast, who like to refer to the LCMS as “Synod, Inc.” – say they assume it will go into general funds, to plug various spending holes, rather than to evangelization.

So my question is, “how many ticks is that worth on the Ablaze evangelism counter?”

  1. I think we are also mentioned in the following paragraph:

And as many, both in the Missouri Synod and outside, have noted in comments in and elsewhere, the LCMS will not be getting the bulk of its money for a decade. If the Synod’s financial need is as great as it has been represented by treasurer Tom Kuchta, it’s hard to see how they benefit from becoming Joy FM’s bankers.

That’s certainly been mentioned on this blog several times.

Anyone know if it’s in the print edition as well as the online edition? How do you tell? I know the local paper has a few things online that aren’t in print, but most of what they publish goes in the print edition first.

  2. Are we conservative “hardliners?” So what kind of hardliner is our DP? He sure don’t play softball. Let’s see…. “Hardline Administration”….I think that will do….

  3. Hey, maybe someone should go put a post on the ticker under “Ablaze Stories” about the witness done by being mentioned in the paper and all the people that read it! 🙂 Would be interesting and better than most of the stories on that site.

  4. Ooooo, that ticker irks me!!!! Where is the reverence in that? It is simple vanity & arrogance!!!! When I was working (outside my home, now I’m 24/7) I never kept track of my transactions or loans signed, parts sold or clients logged. My employers did, as it was part of my duty to them. Just as these gifts & blessed times we give account or share our Hope, are gifted to us & the other lamb (lost or found) by Him & the Holy Spirit, it is every Christian’s duty to their Lord to do this!!! Why give a cookie for doing what we ought? These, ug…”critical moments”, are not ours, we did not “make or take” a moment, it was gifted after we were deemed worthy for it from Above. How can we keep track or count anything, which is not ours nor belongs to us? To my mind, it is almost stealing from the Holy Spirit, which Ablaze! & Fan the Flame are tending to make a dark practice of. Nasty business that, do fear, love, & trust still count in the LCMS, or are they also a bygone part of our Grandfather’s church?
