Murray/Veith/Wenthe: Three Good Links to Commentary on the ELCA Vote

The Four and Twenty Blackbirds have a Youtube video by Dean Wenthe, president of Concordia Theological Seminary – Ft. Wayne that calls us to uphold scripture with clarity and charity.

Murray/Veith/Wenthe: Three Good Links to Commentary on the ELCA Vote — 1 Comment

  1. These three links in this post summarize what I have lacked for words to say on my blog over the past week as I’ve considered the tragic actions of th ELCA. No, we do not need to overclarify ourselves or apologize for simply speaking God’s Word against the apostasy which the ELCA officially voted into action.

Of course, we echo, “But by the grace of God, there go we.” Yet, in uncompromising fervor, we do have the Scripture-bound duty to call flamboyant sin what it is. WUpheld by the Word of God and yet (humanly-speaking) on trembling knees, we do point out error so that those engaged or voted into it may repent and, thus, receive our Lord’s forgiveness. Of course, other sins, known and unknown, fill our thoughts, words, and actions. Yet, our gracious Lord Jesus gives us the joy of His salvation each day as He renews us with a right spirit. (Ps. 51:10-12)

In other words, we repentant sinners long for those involved in the ELCA’s unrepentant error to have the eternal life our Lord Jesus has given us. Why else would we so sharply and rightly point out their sin? Our prayer is that homosexuals and those who accept the homosexual lifestyle as okay will see their sin, be sorry for it, an–fixing their eyes on Jesus in repentance–receive His free forgiveness.
Sin is sin. God’s grace is free for the trusting in Him alone through Jesus Christ alone.
