Lutheran pastor headed to Dover

I was reading this interesting story about an LC-MS pastor becoming the Army’s first full-time chaplain at Dover Air Force Base.

Pastor David Sorensen had the following to say:

“It’s really an honor. If you are familiar with the movie ‘Taking Chance,’ you have a sense from that movie of the honor and respect that is rendered to our fallen soldiers. We want to extend that same honor and respect to their families,” Sorensen said.

He is referring to the movie based on the true story of Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a Marine who escorted the body of a 19-year-old Marine killed in Iraq from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to his family in Wyoming.

Taking Chance‘ is a great movie. I’m not making a Lutheran-specific movie recommendation but a recommendation all the same. Also, congrats to Pastor Sorenson for landing the prestigious post.
