The Lutheran Study Bible Interview and Videos

There were various concerns about The Lutheran Study Bible posting a few days ago where we showed two of the six videos being prepared by CPH. The remainder of the videos are now available on the CPH TLSB videos site (or see them below).

CPHconnect has posted a variety of interviews with people involved in the process of developing TLSB, and we wanted to call your attention to this one in particular, but it may be worth your while to go to their site and reviewing the others that are available.

The Lutheran Study Bible: Interview with Rev. Michael Walther

CPH has a new podcast on The Lutheran Study Bible available, an interview with one of the Study Bible’s associate editors, Pastor Michael Walther. You’ll appreciate what Pastor Walther has to say about his own personal journey of learning more about God’s Word and how he sees The Lutheran Study Bible being such a blessing to lay people and pastors. He speaks about how their approach to this bible was different than what he would have done — they had people sit down and read the bible and write down questions that they have as they are reading as a starting point. He might have started by taking a look at other study bibles that are available. He feels that this approach helped to develop a study bible that answers people’s questions. It includes excellent scholarship from a variety of sources; it’s not just a “Jesus is the answer to everything” but includes a sense of history — how we aren’t a new church but connected to history; both reformers and the church fathers are included. This bible has both scholarship and practical devotional impact in peoples lives. A bible can have the devotional side without the scholarship, or the scholarship without the devotional, and it is week. The Lutheran Study Bible is very strong on both sides!

He has led many bible studies, and states that this bible is one he can trust — he would not hesitate to recommend it to someone needing answers when he isn’t around to guide them. Follow Pastor Walther’s personal path to learning about the bible and see how with this bible people can be like a scuba diver — go on forever exploring the depths of the Word. It covers current problems in its articles which are rooted in scripture. The Bible is not a mysterious, obscure book — we can always get more out of it. The Lutheran Study Bible will help people to grow into the Word of God.
