“At Home in My Father’s House” – Book to be Published Soon by Matt Harrison

It is nice to see that one of the front-running candidates for synodical president is honing is theological and translating skills. Check out this post from July 7 on Matt Harrison’s blog and you can see him at work on his next book – “At Home in My Father’s House.”

Just finishing up on project I’ve been chipping away on for years. “At Home in the House of My Fathers” will be in print very soon. It will include some 100 mostly hitherto un-translated and or unavailable documents by the first five (German born) presidents of the Missouri Synod: Walther, Wyneken, Schwan, Pieper and Pfotenhauer.

It’s a gold mine.

In our opinion, Rev. Harrison is not only at home in our Father’s house but he is also at home in our grandfather’s church.

It has been a few years since we have had a theologian at the helm of the LCMS. This of course is not a nice thing to have but a prerequisite. But Harrison is not only an expert translator/theologian; he is also “practical” as they say, with years of experience heading up one of the largest departments of synod as  the Executive Director of LCMS World Relief and Human Care.  What a great combination this is – expert theologian and experienced in human care.
