The Moving Target: The North Dakota and Southern Illinois Blue Ribbon Presentations Transcribed

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Randy Bosch, who has prepared a current text version of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Synod Structure and Governance restructuring PowerPoint presentation given at the Southern Illinois District Convention, and compares it with the previous presentation at the North Dakota District Convention. Deletions are struck out, and additions are noted in red, for comparison purposes. The actual slide presentations, old and new, are available here and here, respectively.

His efforts alleviate a real bottleneck, since the Synod apparently sees no value in providing useful materials with which to study their proposals. They have made no documents available at the conventions or on line. This is more botched administration or a matter of keeping information from the synod or both. Please pass this on and make it as widely available as possible, so that we can all get a good look and formulate appropriate responses at our district conventions.

  1. Thank you.

The week after the SD district convention when the presentation went on the LCMS website, I asked the BRTFSSG to put it into a text only file so I wouldn’t have to print out 100+ pages of “powerpoint” slides. Their answer was to put four slides per page. They also made it so I could not copy their text and paste it into a word document – or at least I didn’t know how to do it.

I a sense when I read through the SID presentation that it was much different than the original, and my criticism of the Task Force’s proposals was like “hitting a moving target.” Now I know that I was correct.

What I’m wondering about is how they are going to compile “feedback” from the many conventions if they keep giving different presentations.

  2. Except for folk like you pointing out that each presentation is different they would not have to explain how the answers given are not equal. But, hey, they probably won’t have to do that anyway. “Jesus Fist,” the PotS and the “Task Farce” will just do what they want. “They are all honorable men.” Take it or leave it, it’s the “LCMess,” for sure.
