Great Stuff Found on the Web: March 18th MoneyBomb for Issues Etc

March 4th, 2010 Post by Norm Fisher

March 18th is the second anniversary of the cancellation of Issues, Etc. I’ve found on at least two places on the web a request for people to drop a “Moneybomb” on them that day.

We at BJS have the $5/$500 IssuesEtc fundraiser; we will submit whatever comes in to IssuesEtc on that date.

Moneybomb: A neologism coined in 2007 to describe a grassroots fundraising effort over a brief fixed time period, usually to support a candidate for election by dramatically increasing, concentrating, and publicizing fundraising activity during a specific hour or day

From Issues, Etc. Money Bomb on facebook:

IssuesEtcMoneyBombMarch 18 2010 will be the second anniversary of the cancellation of Issues, Etc.

We’re just a grassroots group of fans who love the show and its mission and want to see this ministry continue and grow with the Lord’s blessing.

Please join us in making a donation of twenty dollars (or whatever you can afford) to Issues, Etc. on March 18.

It was shocking that this was done during Holy Week.

Whether anyone meant it for harm, I don’t know, but God meant it for good.

One frustration I had with the show back then was that it could talk freely about every church group but our own.

Now IE can address every synodical issue freely, when that’s needed more than ever.

Thank you Pastor Wilken, Mr. Schwarz, supporters, and all guests, especially members and employees of the synod who have the courage to appear on the show.

Miles Whitener, I agree. Now that Issues Etc. is “too Lutheran for a Lutheran radio station,” Todd and Jeff say freely on the air the same things they openly discuss on this and other social networking sites.

Very telling is their unqualified support for Pr. Matt Harrison for synodical president. They and we know that issues Harrison adresses are more than just “church politics”. Such issues, etc. affect the daily understanding of laymen in daily vocation, the clergy in Word and Sacrament ministry, and the blessing of human care to all in need.

Issues Etc. ddaily does what Ronald F. Marshall calls “deathly evangelism” in its uncompromising communication of Christ Jesus as our only Lord and Savior from sin, death, and the devil.

To add to this, Issues Etc. has not retained a place in broadcast media and social networking for itself alone. Instead, Todd and Jeff have, overtly or indirectly, encouraged dozens of Confessional Lutherans to take up the vocation of “defending the faith…teaching the truth” via the airwaves and internet. Anyway, no other Lutheran broadcast so long-standing as Issues Etc. “loves” its “on demand listeners”!
