Higher Things Conferences filling up fast!

February 22nd, 2010 Post by

One of the things we at SteadfastLutherans promote is the Higher Things conferences and organization. They provide a truly lutheran set of gatherings around the country for our young people. These help them in that difficult period of time when our young are pulled in so many different ways by the world around them as they try to move towards adulthood.

Please read this announcement from them on their conferences this year; make sure your church youth group doesn’t miss out on an opportunity to attend one of these conference by waiting too long to register — in either Utah or Tennessee.

Great News!

The response to registration has been amazing – the Tennessee conference is more than 85% full! Even with the change in locations earlier this month, we have less than 150 guaranteed spots remaining for groups to attend the GIVEN conference at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

We still have plenty of room in Utah for any groups still getting organized and forms together. Both conferences will be very similar in programming and general schedule, but the settings will be very different. Vanderbilt is located in the heart of Music City and Utah State is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Both campuses are beautiful and offer many nice amenities for us while we’re staying there.

There is just one week left in the regular registration period while groups may register for Tennessee at the rate of $335/person and for Utah at $310/person. After March 1, the rates will increase by $15/person.

Groups who register for a conference after it has reached capacity have the option of putting their names on a waiting list for that conference, switching to the other conference with space available at no additional fee (and possibly even for less!). If you’re still trying to figure out if you can get to a conference, please contact us because we can put you in touch with other groups attending from your area for travel purposes or to “share” chaperones with your youth. We want to help everyone who wants to attend a Higher Things conference this summer to do so!

It’s so great to see that we have so many youth already registered for the GIVEN conferences this summer. And we still have room for many more youth to hear how the Gospel is GIVEN to us in Utah and Tennessee! For more information about the conferences, please visit or email conferences@higherthings.org.

I’m out here in the Phoenix area. This seems like a great thing. I have two fourteen year old’s and an eight year old. The more of our Lutheran confessions that we can feed to our young, the better. It will keep them from false doctrine.

Also, my children think that contempory worship sound’s “wierd”. They much prefer the old hymns and the rich liturgy!

Are you registered for a conference? I bet the 14 yr olds would have a great time in Utah!

    Hi Sandra:

My 14 year old’s are going to a WELS district youth rally in July. They have different work shops for the teens to learn the Word of God. This is for the teens in California and Arizona. They put ‘em up in a nice hotel, and they finish off at a water park. Right now, money is short.

Usually, we’ll have a five day camp for the teens in the mountains (Pinetop, Arizona), and we’ll also have international youth events.

I know, with the folks on this website involved, it will have great confessional, Biblical Lutheran teaching.

I’ll be praying for your event!

P.S. Go get the Law and the Gospel out among the Mormons!

It’s great seeing the article about Higher Things posted here even as the strains from Sola are still reverberating in our youth’s ears. I’ve spoken with a couple of them, from our church youth and they are saying it would be great if they could go to the conferences. The Lord’s blessings be yours as you all prepare for Given, where hundreds will again get the best in Confessional Lutheran teaching while having a lot of enjoyment doing so. Let’s just say the two gals that went from our church last year were amped quite a while, talking about the traditional worship you all held. The sound bites on http://www.higherthings.org sounded great, too.
