More Good Stuff Found by Norm – Meet Matt Harrison the Person: Interview on God Whisperers
We found the following on the God Whisperers site: Episode 72: Matthew Harrison. The interview was done after Rev. Harrison’s presentation to the Southern Orange County Outreach (SOCO) luncheon, a confessional group in San Juan Capistrano, California. SOCO also doubles as a BJS chapter. The interview reveals some interesting details about Harrison’s hobbies and his translating work and reveals to the synod a great churchman who would make a great and faithful synodical president.

Pastor Harrison’s offered a proposal for missions which is positively gospel. He proposes to give each seminary one million dollars apiece to bring fifty men from countries around the world (Africa, Asia and South America); train them as pastors then have these men return to their native lands as missionaries. They already know the language, culture and people – we train them in Law and Gospel and how to properly preach God’s Word and administer the Sacraments. Now this is a “missional” proposal that makes sense, is biblical in its foundation and one proposal I can and do wholeheartedly support.

Dennis, I agree whole heartedly. I read that proposal in Rev. Harrison’s “Its Time”, then heard him speak about it in Western Missouri workers conference, on ‘God Whispers’ and Issues. Each time I get more excited about it. At Fort Wayne’s symposia last year I, a most ordinary pastor, got to meet and speak to men from Kenya, South Africa, Scandinavian nations, Siberia, and Haiti. It is Missouri’s Time. May these opportunites not slip away. As I read ‘House of My Fathers’, as I hear what Human Care/Lutheran Relief has done. Rev. Harrison is showing himself to be a true theologian, mission minded, mercy promoting, and an excellent administrator (WR/HC is in the black). Yes, we do need Harrison in 2010 – for the LC-MS and the world.
