Comments are OFF?!? I can’t believe it!!

I’m confused. Who put those comments on the video? Scott? BJS? Surely not the LCMS.

The LCMS, to quote Harold Senbeil, (kind of) is in the process of losing its memory. We are forgetting who we are. I will be privileged to go to one of the caucuses, or whatever the name of the day is, and I think I’ll suggest the new name for our synod. Here goes:

LCPS. That stands for “Lutheran Church-Pasadena Synod.” I was toying with “Pasadena Lutheran Church”, PLC, but I thought it would be nice to put the term “Lutheran” first. Now that I think about it, I wonder why. Maybe Community-Reformed Association of Pasadena. You can figure out the acronym yourselves.

Who you quote really belies who it is that you trust. I quote people on my blog that preach Law and Gospel, that faithfully preach the Gospel. When you put quotes of Pastor Rick Warren up, it makes one wonder what it is you believe. Pastor Warren hopelessly confuses Law and Gospel, and preaches a salvation that is based on your own actions. It makes me think, from the quotes of Warren and Noble, that the posters don’t espouse Lutheran theology. If they did, they’d avoid these types of preachers, not cling to their every word.

To me the format and content of this blog (quotes and sentiments from other non-denominational/non-Christian authors and sources) echoes the pervading feeling of the “mission-minded” faction of the Missouri-Synod: “All denominations and churches MUST be the same, right? After all, they’re all Christian, and they all believe in the Bible as a central source, which must mean that they’re just as “okay” as we Lutherans are. And since all denominations are created equal, then there’s no problem with incorporating and intermixing Lutheran teachings and doctrine with other non-Lutheran sources–Bible studies, contemporary worship music, etc. After all, we don’t want to appear stand-offish or even discriminating.”

I’ve seen this opinion implicitly expressed way too many times to count, in Lutheran congregations, no less. The problem with this thinking is that the historic liturgy, the Lutheran Confessions, and properly catechizing young people SHOULD be kept, preserved, and taught and preached rightly, instead of being tossed out. By incorporating non-Lutheran sources in church teaching and worship, the things we hold sacred and true are in danger of being hopelessly diluted.

How about “Razor’s Edge”–more descriptive of where they are theologically, and let’s get rid of that old “Lutheran” term. It’s a turn-off.

What’s his name near the end of the video says, “you show up and after 3 or 4 minutes say, ‘I don’t like the show.’”

That pretty much says it all – it’s all about “the show.”

As far as I can tell (via my remembrance of the pseudonyms), no active LCMS pastors have weighed in on this video, yet. Please, LCMS pastors: weigh in…and study this goof, and charge him. You all are in fellowship with him; you owe it to yourselves, to him, and to your (and all LCMS) parishes to bring him to repentance or to have him removed from the clergy roster.

A little advice for conquering what seem to be insurmountable obstacles: start somewhere.

I feel ill after reading this description of worship at Water’s Edge entertainment-driven style church. When someone starts using the word “anointed” about worship leaders, it makes me want to run. What about training in the history of liturgy and worship and also great musical skill? With what are these guys anointed? (Can’t wait to hear your answers)

There is so much wrong with this I don’t even know where to start. The ending is especially troublesome. Are you kidding me? This is LCMS??? I despair.

Sorry, I misunderstood the reference to Watersesdge as being his congregation. The Ablaze![tm] folks using him is indefensible, but will, of course, be successfully defended in the LCMS’s corrupt ecclesiastical non-courts.

LCMS Christian, Classical Musician: do not despair; defend, destroy/deprogram, or depart. “The LCMS” and “the Church” and NOT coterminus, nor are, even, “the LCMS” and “the True Visible Church of God” (according to C.F.W. Walther).

Steven: it shouldn’t take one more than three hours to become more Lutheran than the pastor. (Oops…)

Pastor Stefanski, your comments, were AWESOME!!!! You sounded like those who taught me, when I was small (Pastor wise, that is)!!!! All Saints Sunday to boot, thanks bunches!!!
When I see this drivel, I think of 2 Peter. 2 Peter: Chapt. 2: 8-22. Vs 10, 14-16, & 18 mostly. Kimball & Noble are hirlings, Warren is a big wig, I’m half expecting to see Sweet, Bell or McClaren up there next. Their premise of “Christian” is:

If I seek a “spiritual experience”, & walk into their church, take their survey & class:
I am now a Christian.

That is like saying: If I seek to buy, and walk into the mall, I now become a store.

Ug. Run away, run away.
