Steadfast Media Pick of the Week — Lawsuits Among Believers

March 20th, 2014 Post by

This episode of The Bible Study is on 1 Corinthians 6:1-11 and was recommend by Dr. Noland. It walks through the difficult topic of lawsuits between Christians with the ultimate goal being, “not to be selfish and serving only ourselves, but to defend one another and to serve on another in love.”

    Dear Brian,

Thanks for posting this podcast from KFUO, with Craig Donofrio as host, and the Rev. David Fleming of Grand Rapids, MI as guest. This is a difficult topic, but Pr. Fleming did very well in navigating through the issue in a very Lutheran way.

Yours in Christ, Martin R. Noland

No, it’s not a difficult post. Paul’s words are pretty clear on Christians having lawsuits on other Christians. It should be a last recourse to avoid financial ruin, but yet how many stories do you hear of LCMS leaders and congregations suing each other? These stories often make the national press. It’s beyond shameful.

    Can congregations sue districts?
As I remember that loophole, it was districts which could sue congregations… for their property! And it’s been done!
    Your mission money at work.
