Concord Matters on KFUO: Recap and Preview (by Pr. Charles Henrickson)

December 13th, 2013 Post by

UPDATE, MONDAY, DEC. 16 . . . I just received this word from on high: The show that was snowed out on Saturday–with host Craig Donofrio and guests Steve Cholak and Ellie Corrow, picking up at paragraph 7 of the Preface–that show will be broadcast LIVE tomorrow, Tuesday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. (Central). Everything else–for example, my guests Daniel Preus and Pam Nielsen for this coming Saturday–will remain the same. Keep calm and carry on.

The second program of Concord Matters is in the books, and the third one is on the way tomorrow.

On the show that aired last Saturday, host Rod Zwonitzer and his guests, Pastors Tony Sikora and Bob Zagore, discussed the Preface of the Christian Book of Concord, focusing on paragraphs 4-6. You can read those paragraphs here on this page, and you can listen to the archived discussion on this audio link. You can listen to any of the previous programs, at your convenience, by going to the Concord Matters archives.

Tomorrow, Saturday, 10:00-11:00 a.m. (Central), host Craig Donofrio will welcome guests the Rev. Steve Cholak and Deaconess Ellie Corrow, as they continue on in the Preface, picking up at paragraph 7. You can listen live–and even participate by phone or e-mail–by clicking on the streaming online link at, or listen later to the rebroadcast on Tuesday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. (Central).

I will be hosting on Saturday, December 21, when my guests are scheduled to be the Rev. Daniel Preus and Deaconess Pam Nielsen.

By the way, if you do not have your own copy of the Book of Concord, I encourage you to get one. Right now CPH is offering Concordia: The Lutheran Confessions, A Reader’s Edition of the Book of Concord at the very affordable price of $19.99. You may want to follow the Reading Guide therein (p. xxxiv), and read through the Book of Concord over the course of 2014, whether individually or as part of a Book of Concord Reading Group in your area. (Ask your pastor to get a group started!)

Okay, I’m 7 minutes into the program 12/14/13 and its a repeat of last week’s show…

Did someone press the wrong button at KFUO?

Sigh…I was jazzed for new stuff.

What’s going on here? Is the program a repeat?

  3. December 14th, 2013 at 10:38 | #3

OK, here’s what’s going on, as far as I can tell. Here in St. Louis we had a pretty significant (by St. Louis standards) snowstorm overnight. The driving could be somewhat treacherous this morning, depending on what part of the area you’re driving in. The host and the guests scheduled for today’s show all live in the St. Louis area, and it may have been too difficult or dangerous for them to come in to the studio. So a repeat of last week’s program is being aired right now. That’s my guess. What this will do to the upcoming schedule–content, hosts, and guests–pushing things back a week, I don’t know yet. We’ll let you know here within the next few days.

All we got was rain, so thanks for keeping the white stuff to yourselves.
