BJS Newsreel: Did We Mention the Flaming Cherries Jubilee for the BJS Banquet Dessert?

January 7th, 2011 Post by

Did we mention that we are serving Flaming Cherries Jubilee for the banquet dessert at this year’s Brothers of John the Steadfast conference? The teaching and support staff of Bethany Lutheran in Naperville, Illinois will once again uphold their reputation of superb hospitality with such a fancy dessert.

Bethany is very blessed to have a support staff and day school teaching staff that manage most of the event hosting for our annual conference. Each year they get rave reviews on their service and hospitality. Of course, they have had a lot of practice. We have hosted President Barry, Presidents Dale Meyer and Dean Wenthe, Vice President Kuhn, two different Preus’s, and Pastor Wilken just to name a few. It all started 15 years ago when we hosted the Concordia River Forest Wind Symphony in our gymnasium and served made to order omelets to 350 folks.

The menu for the banquet on Friday night includes Chicken Alexandra, Oven Roasted Pork Loin, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Vegetables, Mixed Green Salad, Dinner Roll, and of course for dessert Flaming Cherries Jubilee.

Pastor Rossow will once again host the “manly breakfast” on Saturday morning with more than enough protein and fat to clog even the most dilated arteries. Lunch on Saturday will feature homemade shaved beef au jus sandwiches in sweet or hot pepper suace.

As if all that weren’t enough, the hors d’oevres on Friday night will feature three different colored punches, one for each of the colors of President Harrison’s “Mercy (purple), Witness (red) and Life Together (green)” theme.

We hope you will join us for some great meals, informative speakers, and of course a dessert that is really “Ablaze.” To register click here.

Pity you all are up there in the snow! :)

[And we are down here, hoping there won't be a city stopping ice storm this year.] ;)

Good thing they’re not the Ablaze!™ Cherries Jubilee. I would have been worried. :)
