The Brothers of John the Steadfast are pleased to welcome LCMS President Matthew Harrison as the keynote speaker to its annual conference. The conference is a two day opportunity for study, rich liturgical worship, and fellowship all topped off by Bethany Lutheran’s renowned hospitality. This year’s conference will be on Friday and Saturday, February 11 – 12 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville, Illinois.

President Harrison will be the featured speaker at the Friday evening banquet. The Friday evening festivities will include wonderful food for the body and for the soul. The banquet menu includes roast pork, Chicken Alexandra, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, and dessert.

One of the highlights of the conference each year is a feast of authentically Lutheran and liturgically rich worship planned by Bethany’s Cantor Phillip Magness. Cantor Magness  has developed a reputation around the synod for an approach to worship that uses a rich variety of instruments and sounds that is thoroughly liturgical but also speaks to the modern ear. The conference will include a Vespers on Friday evening after the banquet and the Divine Service on Saturday.

On Saturday we will hear from a varied list of speakers on President Harrison’s new threefold theme for the LCMS: Witness, Mercy, Life-together. Missionary James May will be joining us from Africa to speak on “witness.” BJS’s own Rev. Dr. Timothy A. Rossow will be addressing the theme of “life-together” under the theme of “The Real Fellowship is not Donut Fellowship.” Finally, Tim Hetzner, Director of Lutheran Church Charities, will address the topic of “mercy.” (Who knows, he may even bring one of his much maligned Comfort Dogs?)

Registration for the conference is only $50 and that includes the banquet with President Harrison. For those in the Chicago-land area who want to attend the banquet only, the price is $20. Seating for the banquet will be limited. For banquet tickets or conference tickets click here.

Because of the tighter schedule and extra events planned for this conference, we do not anticipate having audio available immediately after the event as we have done in the past.

The conference will begin on Friday with registration at 5 PM and continue on Saturday morning with the “Manly Man’s Breakfast” at 8 and continuing until 2:45. (Click here to register, or for the complete schedule.)

NOTE: Banquet registration is limited to the first 350 paid registrations received.
