As a Catholic, it is important to approach Jesus to receive his body in a state of grace that is acceptable. (without mortal sin) Also, when you receive Jesus in his body and blood, you are proclaiming AMEN! This means you believe you are truly receiving Jesus and believe in the teachings of His one, holy, Catholic, & apostolic Church. This is why communion is one of our 7 sacraments which gives us life in the Holy Spirit. (John 6)

Thanks for this post. I never understood what all the fuss was about over just a single letter. I never HEARD anybody talk about it, I always read about it, so I thought it was closed and “close”, the verb. Like “close the door”. Close communion. It never made any sense to me.

But, . . . but, . . . but, . . close is much more friendly. If we use closed folk might think we really believe, teach and confess something about the sacrament. Folk might think that we aren’t part of the mainstream liberal protestant churches. Gee wiz, we might even be thought of as old fashioned – like having real doctrines and other old stuff.
