Vote for Synod President: How to do it, and how I’ll vote (by Pr. Charles Henrickson)

It’s nearly time to elect the President of our Synod. June 11-14 is the window for eligible voters to cast their electronic ballot. Eligible voters are those from your congregation who attended your district’s 2015 convention as delegates. If you have any questions about who is eligible to vote from your congregation, contact LCMS Secretary Hartwig’s office as soon as possible. Here is a link with more information:

It’s Nearly Time to … Elect the President of our Synod

By now LCMS Presidential Election Voters should have received an envelope, from Election-America, with specific instructions for how to cast the electronic ballot, including the Election Code and the Voting PIN to enter.

Harrison (2)OK, so that’s how to vote. Now, who to vote for?

For me, the choice is easy. I will be voting once again for our current Synod President, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison. While I may have thought President Harrison could have handled this or that situation a little differently, overall I think he has done a good job and is leading our Synod in the right direction. In my opinion, Harrison is clearly a better choice than the two other candidates on the ballot. That’s how I’ll be voting, and I hope others will do the same.

So encourage the presidential election voters you know to vote! Make sure that they know the voting window is June 11-14 and that they have received the envelope with the voting instructions. Don’t take President Harrison’s re-election for granted. While it’s likely Harrison will win, the higher a percentage of the vote he receives, the better that strong showing will bode for elections and resolutions at the upcoming convention itself.
