Mens Breakfast Group Pledges $1,200 for the New Lutheran Center in Africa, by Pr. Rossow

The capital campaign for Lutherans In Africa (LIA) new Lutheran Center in Nairobi, Kenya continues to raise funds all around the world and from mission-minded folks who want to see Lutheranism thrive all across the continent. The most recent gifts are coming from a small group of men who meet twice a month to study the Lutheran Confessions at Bethany Lutheran Church and School in Naperville, Illinois. Just this week they pledged $100 a month for the cause.

Many of these men have also pledged or given gifts in the general fund-raiser recently held at Bethany which raised dover $25,000 for the campaign. That $25,000 was then matched by a generous member for a grand total of $50,000 and the gifts and pledges are still coming in.

Gifts and pledges are coming from all corners of the globe. The conservative Lutherans in Finland have pledged over $100,000 and there are parishes in England and Australia that are supporting the cause. In addition there are 20 congregations in the US that are holding home gatherings and mission festivals to support the cause. A small church in west Texas has set a goal of raising $50,000 for the campaign.

LIA is the special mission emphasis of the Brothers of John the Steadfast. A gift of $500, $50 or even $5 will be a great blessing for the cause and help make this Lutheran Center a reality.
