Mollie’s Post on – A Lutheran, A Jew, A Baptist and A Catholic Walk into a Hearing, by Pr. Rossow

The Harrison appearance in Washington is right up the vocational alley of BJS friend and blogger Mollie Ziegler Hemingway. She has written about it on You can read her insightful commentary here.

  1. So what happens when Higgins Road sends Bishop Hanson to say, “WE are the Lutherans and we think Obama’s HHS rulings are just hunky-dory!” ?

When are we going to clean up our witness by divesting ourselves of these false lutherans?

  2. @helen #1: “When are we going to clean up our witness by divesting ourselves of these false lutherans?”

We already have. Delegates at the 2001 synodical convention passed [706 yes; 343 LINO no] Resolution 3-21A, which stated in part:

Resolved, That the 2001 synodical convention affirm the late President Alvin L. Barry’s judgment that “we cannot consider them [the XXXA] to be an orthodox Lutheran church body” (President’s Report, CW, p. 7)[2001 Convention Proceedings, p.142].

Since then the leadership of the XXXA heretical sect has moved ever further away to the fringe of Christianity.

At the ACNA-LCMS Open Forum held at Concordia Theological Seminary-Fort Wayne on October 27, 2011, President Harrison also concluded (at 5:10 into the video):

“Our relationship with the ELCA is over. We meet a couple times a year to talk about some joint interests in social ministry and that kind of thing, but relationship [of] Higgins Road to St. Louis is over. We’ve ended a number of expressed joint work. We can’t just do it anymore with a good conscience.”

Because of the direction and rate that sect is moving, eventually I suspect, people from the XXXA, just as with ex-Mormons, in becoming members of a Missouri Synod Lutheran congregation will have to be baptized by the LCMS pastor into the Christian faith.

  3. In 2009 the Obama Administration started saying
“Freedom of Worship” instead of “Freedom of Religion”
when referring to the 1st Amendment. They have
tried to narrow the focus to Sunday morning rather
than seven days a week. The Obama Administration
wants to interfere with our freedom to have a
conscience led belief due to our religious convictions.

  4. Rev. Likeness,

By definition, a lying, genocidal murdering traitor doesn’t care about preserving the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

  5. Joke?!?

The obscene joke is Rep. Gerald Connolly (D, Va) who told Pres. Harrison and the other witnesses at the hearing,

“I believe that today’s hearing is a sham. Here you are being asked to testify about your rights being trampled on — an overstatement if there ever was one — while you’re on a panel, and your participation on the panel makes you complicit in of course the trampling of freedom, because we were denied, on this side of the aisle, any witness who might have a differing point of view. And I think that’s shameful.”

“And I am very sad you have chosen to participate and be used the way you’re being used. Just as you were in the previous questioning, as if people are going to jail over this. Shame! Everybody knows that’s not true.

“This is a panel designed, with your conscious participation or not, to try one more time to embarrass the President of the United States and his Administration by overstating an issue which is sacred to all Americans — religious freedom. But, of course, in order to do it, we have to — in an almost Stalinist-like fashion — have signs of Democratic icons to rub Democratic faces in it, as if those icons would be on the same side of this dispute today.”

Two other jokes are these two House Committee members, one of whom ranted, “What I want to know is, where are the women?,” before they stormed out of the hearing, not to be missed.

Other long running jokes are the media clymers spinning the House committee hearing on religious freedom into a claimed ‘What’s wrong with this picture?’ all-male panel hearing on contraception.

And then there is ironic humor in this picture showing LCMS President Harrison and other religious leaders being sworn in to tell the truth, by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, almost half of whom are Demonicrats.

  6. President Harrison said the blanket is too short. Rep. Connolly got confused and thought he was talking about a sham.

  7. One of Connolly’s constituents said that he won narrowly, last election.
Let us hope he loses, this time.

The woman congressperson [nominally Roman Catholic] who thinks religion should be “practiced in the privacy of your own home” is apparently election proof according to one of her district.

Religious conviction has now apparently become the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” topic.
