ULMA March Meeting in Columbus

(Editor’s Note: ULMA is the United Lutheran Mission Association. They are an independent  conservative Lutheran group of congregations. We publish regular reports from them to expose our readers to as large of a group of confessional Lutherans as possible and in an effort to give conservative Lutherans a chance to dialogue, better understand one another and remain united against the questionable tactics of the church growth movement. Other posts from ULMA can be viewed on the regular columns page.)

This along with many other events can be found on our Lutheran Calendar available on the sidebar. There is a separate RSS feed for the calendar so you can view the next 5-10 upcoming events in your reader.

The next semi-annual meeting of the United Lutheran Mission Association (ULMA) will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 7:30am – 1:00pm Eastern Time. We will be meeting in the conference room at:

Hampton Inn – I-70/Hamilton

2093 S. Hamilton Rd.

Columbus, OH 43232

614-552-2400

The hotel is off of I-70 East using exit 107/107A (depends on the direction of your approach). Visit Hampton.com for more information and specific directions. If you plan on staying at the hotel, be sure to mention you’re there for the United Lutheran Mission Association meeting. We have a block of rooms reserved for a discounted rate.

If you plan on arriving on Friday evening, March 19, you are invited to meet with us for fellowship, food, and beverages. Around 5:00pm we will be meeting at the hotel to pick a place where the ULMA members, mission representatives, and guests can have a relaxing evening getting to know each other. (We are currently eyeing a German restaurant about 10 miles from the hotel. It sounds promising!)

ULMA was very busy in 2009, with a new mission start in California and the calling of our second Missionary at Large. We will be hearing reports from our mission congregations. They are Sola Scriptura in Muskego, Wisconsin, Agnus Dei in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Christ the Rock in Carlsbad, California. We anticipate visitors from congregations who are interested in supporting ULMA as well as those who wish to establish mission congregations.

Last year was a challenge with the economic turmoil from 2008 still affecting us. The Lord has seen fit to bless our humble efforts and our missions are continuing steadfast in proclaiming the Gospel. This is your chance to meet us in person and find out more about us. We will have an informal Question and Answer (Q&A) session at 11:30am where ULMA members will talk about the organization, outreach, mission plans, and anything else of interest to those in attendance. We will adjourn early in the afternoon allowing adequate time for attendees to return home.

Past visitors have commented on the benefit of attending our meetings in person. It provides the best opportunity for exchanging ideas, fellowship, and getting to know the ULMA members and pastors. However, we understand how distance and lack of resources can limit travel to our meeting sites. There are other options available. Anyone interested in participating as an observer at our next meeting and/or Q&A session should contact one of the ULMA Member Congregations by Thursday, March 18, so that we may plan accordingly. Our member congregations are:

Pilgrim Lutheran Church

(217) 877-2444

Redeemer Lutheran Church

(586) 294-0640

Keep an eye on our news releases and website for updates as we approach the meeting date. We look forward to seeing you at our next gathering as the United Lutheran Mission Association continues moving forward in spreading the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
