Book of Concord Dailly Readings – Devotion of the Week by BJS

There are many devotional sources around the web that will deliver to your inbox a new short piece to help you in your daily or weekly devotionals, or just get your day started in the right frame of mind. We at BJS use several of these ourselves, and wanted to bring some of them to your attention. We will be posting a devotional from different sources that we are aware of. If you receive or know of a good Lutheran devotion, please contact us and we’ll look at it and make it available to our readership.

The home of the Book of Concord on the web (https://BookofConcord.org) has added a new feature over the past week. The Readers Edition put out by CPH has a reading guide in it, so by reading 5 days a week (M-F), you can read through the entire book in one year. Previously, Google Calendar was used to distribute this information to your mailbox or phone. This wasn’t the best method to do it, because it was difficult for users to figure out how to make use of the calendar, and some (many?) people don’t use online calendars.

So, a new feature — you may have a link to the daily readings sent to you by email or directly to your phone (if you have web access on the phone). Email is handled by the Google Group dailyBOC and phone sending is handled by Twitter.

The tweet for today is:

BOC reading of the day: AP XIIa 91-97 https://bocl.org?AP+XIIa+91

We encourage all of our readers to read through the Book of Concord, and this is a very good way to prompt you to do the readings each day that will accomplish that! If you are a twitter user, Go there and sign up for your daily tweet. If you would pefer to sign up for email, enter your email address in the box below and sign up for the postings.

I’ve personally not figured out the “hype” about twitter .. why do I care what 500 people are doing “right now”? Seems to be a waste of time to me, but .. this is a very good use of the service, as you will get one “tweet” each day with the daily reading in it, as well as a link to the reading on the BookOfConcord.org site.

We at Brothers of John the Steadfast are experimenting with twitter ourselves; if there are twitter users out there who would find it convenient to receive information from us that way, please sign up on our twitter feed.
