Reading through the Book of Concord, week of Mar 2nd

One of the goals of the Brothers of John the Steadfast is the creation of reading groups whose intention is to get with a Pastor and read through the Book of Concord. For those people who do not have access to a reading group, it occurred to us that we might try creating an “online reading group” right here on the BJS site.

Pastors reading this — please take the time to reply to any questions brought up on this list, or even comment yourselves on what this section of the BOC means to you.

Each Sunday we will post the readings for the week, broken down into daily readings. Read through the passages yourselves, either using your copy of the Concordia or using the BookofConcord.org website.

As announced in the comments in previous weeks, we now have a calendar-based reading list. Thanks to Pastor Rob Guenther who is doing a lot of the detail work, you can now subscribe your google calendar to the daily readings by sharing the public calendar of “[email protected]”. We are still testing to see how this works; if you use it please contact us and tell us if it works and/or if there are things we need to change in it. You may also view this calendar here or as HTML here.

NOTE: The files you are reading were scanned from a print copy of the Book of Concord and lots of modifications have been made. Unfortunately that means that sometimes a character was scanned incorrectly. If during your reading you note a typo, PLEASE bring it to our attention by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and click on the link to report typos or formatting errors.

For Mar 2nd through Mar 6th we are in week 10 in 2009, so according to the pocket edition of Concordia, reading about the Sacrament of the Altar in the Large Catechism.

Monday Large Catechism, IV, 71-V:7.

Tuesday LC V, 8-30.

Wednesday LC, V, 31-48.

Thursday LC, V, 49-74.

Friday LC, V, 75-87.

Write any questions or comments on the readings for the week below. Please try to keep discussion limited to the readings for this week or topics that grow out of them. Remember, no question is a stupid question, and insights you see clearly may not be evident to others, so write about anything you want regarding these readings!
